Day 02: Valley remains shut on JRL's call | KNO

Srinagar, February 28 (KNO) : Following the call given by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), a complete shutdown was on Thursday observed for the second straight day here to mark a protest against the arrest of Jamaat and Hurriyat leaders, National Investigation Agency (NIA) raids on houses of pro-freedom leaders and legal challenge to Article 35A. A complete shutdown was also observed on Wednesday here and continued for second straight day on JRL's call on Tuesday afternoon. All the shops, business establishments were closed throughout the day while as the traffic was also thin on the roads. The government offices also witnessed a less attendance today. The restrictions were also imposed in City areas here to thwart any possible protests in view of protest strike. A large number of police and paramilitary men were deployed in sensitive areas of Srinagar here today while as the commuters and pedestrians were seen passing through the restriction bound areas. However, the situation as per police officials remained normal and under control today while as some stray incidents of stone pelting was reported from some places today. The trains services was also suspended for the second straight day today.(KNO)
